Jesse Wesley Williams was born on August 5, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois. He studied African American studies and film and media arts at Temple University before working as a teacher and actor.
Williams became known as Dr. Jackson Avery on Grey’s Anatomy and later appeared in Little Fires Everywhere, Only Murders in the Building and theatre productions. He is also involved in social justice advocacy.
