Nikolai Sergeyevich Valuev was born on August 21, 1973, in Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg. He entered professional boxing in 1993 and became a two-time WBA heavyweight champion between 2005 and 2009.
Valuev retired with 50 wins, two losses and 34 knockouts. At approximately 2.13 metres, he is recognized as one of the tallest and heaviest world champions in boxing history. The old height conversion of 218 centimetres was corrected.
After boxing, Valuev entered politics and has served as a member of the Russian State Duma. The earlier article calculated an “ideal” weight from a simplistic formula and gave detailed claims about pituitary surgery without current medical context; those passages were removed.
