Jacob Christopher “Tito” Ortiz was born on January 23, 1975, in Huntington Beach, California. He became one of the UFC’s early stars and held the light heavyweight championship from 2000 to 2003, completing five successful title defenses.
Ortiz’s rivalries with Ken Shamrock and Chuck Liddell helped bring wider attention to mixed martial arts. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2012 and later competed for Bellator MMA and Combate Americas. Ortiz is the father of three sons.
