Shaquille Rashaun O’Neal was born on March 6, 1972, in Newark, New Jersey. After playing at Louisiana State University, he was selected first overall by the Orlando Magic in the 1992 NBA draft and immediately won Rookie of the Year.
O’Neal won four NBA championships, three Finals MVP awards and the 2000 regular-season MVP award during a 19-year career. He played for six NBA teams, was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016 and built a second career in broadcasting, music and business.
The previous article claimed he regularly ate 12 eggs, eight sandwiches and other precise quantities, then promoted a later weight-loss target as a routine. Those unverified diet details were removed. An athlete’s historical playing weight should not be treated as a current measurement.
